Health Insurance Navigator/Western South Dakota Community Action
Melissa is a navigator at Western South Dakota Community Action, where she provides outreach and health insurance enrollment support. Prior to her role at WSDCA, she served as a mental health case manager, held the position of social services director at a nursing home, performed duties as a certified nurse’s assistant and medication aide for a span of 16 years with a 4-year break to join the United States Air Force as an aerospace medical service technician.
Melissa has a bachelor’s degree in human services from the University of Northern Colorado and currently pursuing her MSW degree from the University of South Dakota.
Melissa resides in Spearfish, where she finds pleasure in spending quality time with her two adorable dogs, engaging in arts and crafts activities, or cruising around on her motorcycle on days with pleasant weather. During weekends, she works as a home health professional because of her passion for serving the elderly population.
