WELCOME TO GET COVERED SOUTH DAKOTA
Enrolling in health insurance is a proactive way to take the first step towards better health and well-being. With the help of a trained navigator, you can receive free support in finding a plan that fits you and your needs.
The annual open enrollment period is November 1 – January 15. If you qualify for a special enrollment period (SEP) because of a life change like getting married, having a baby, losing other coverage, or moving, you may apply for coverage outside of open enrollment.
Navigators are trained and certified individuals who offer free support. They’re required to provide fair, impartial, and accurate information about your health insurance options.
Whether you have a question about health insurance, need help applying on the Health Insurance Marketplace, or want someone to help you find the right plan, your local health insurance navigator is here to support you through it all.
Take the first step towards coverage you can count on. Meet your navigator today! For other local help, call 211 or click here.
HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT
Most companies that offer insurance shopping assistance have financial incentives, like commission, to sell insurance. Navigators are trained and certified by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and cannot receive any financial compensation or kick-back for helping consumers enroll in a health insurance plan. We exist because we believe that everyone should have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare and think that insurance is an important part of that.
KNOW THE BASICS
Most people will need medical care at some point. Health insurance can help pay for these costs and protect you from high expenses. These are the things you should know before enrolling in a health insurance plan.
CONNECT WITH A NAVIGATOR
Depending on your unique circumstances, you may have several options available to you for insurance, including picking a health insurance plan on the Marketplace or enrolling in Medicaid. A Navigator can help you determine what you are eligible for and how to get signed up.
SEE IF YOU CAN ENROLL
You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if you have certain life changes, or qualify for Medicaid or CHIP.

You can change if you have certain life events — like moving, getting married, or having a baby or income range.
