FY26 Funding Package: What it Means for Community Health Centers and Tribal Health Systems

The bi-partisan funding package for fiscal year (FY) 2026 has passed and includes federal funding for community health centers (CHCs), Indian Health Service (IHS), and many Tribal health programs. Through the Consolidated Appropriations Act, community health centers have secured $4.6 billion for FY 2026, a slight increase from last year. The legislation also extends Medicare telehealth flexibilities and makes continued investments in the National Health Service Corps and Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program. The package also includes the Special Diabetes Programs for Indians (SDPI), and increased funding for Tribal health programs at the Department of Health and Human Services, such as the Native American Cancer Outcomes program and the Native Connections program. Indian Health Service services and facilities funding also saw a slight increase for FY 2026, with the passage of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. Thank you to all who have engaged in advocacy with Members of Congress over the past year!
