2024 Uniform Data System Databook

Written by Becky Wahl, Director of Innovation & Health Informatics

The Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas (CHAD) team has prepared the Uniform Data System (UDS) Databook annually for member health centers for the last six years. The databook shows trends and comparisons for patient demographics, payor mixes, clinical measures, financial measures, provider productivity, and economic impact. The databook includes health center-specific data, as well as state-level data. Where appropriate and meaningful, national UDS data, strategic goals, and other benchmarking data such as Great Plains Health Data Network (GPHDN) averages are compared.

The databook was developed to promote data transparency across health centers and to allow them to benchmark their performance with others. This data enables health centers to identify high performers within the network and connect with peers to learn about best practices for improved outcomes. CHAD and GPDHN staff also use the databook to identify focus areas for technical assistance and training.

Over the last few weeks, staff have been updating the databooks to include the 2024 UDS data and have identified the following trends:

  • Health centers in South Dakota had a nearly 17% increase in the number of mental health staff, increasing patient access across the state;
  • The GPHDN health centers have seen a nearly 4% increase in the number of virtual visits provided to patients across the network;
  • In the last five years, GPHDN health centers have steadily improved the hypertension measure performance, with the 2024 measure being nearly 8% higher than it was in 2020; and,
  • South Dakota health centers in the GPHDN have seen a 15% decrease in uninsured patients; meanwhile, they had a 6% increase in Medicaid patients served.

Additional findings will be shared on July 15, at 1:00 pm CT/12:00 pm MT as CHAD staff will provide a comprehensive overview of the databooks. This overview will be for CHAD and GPHDN members only. This presentation will walk attendees through the contents and layout of the updated databooks. Additional registration information on this webinar can be found here.
