When Opinney Faced a $400 Health Insurance Premium, a Navigator Stepped In

I had started a new job, and the health insurance was expensive so that I couldn’t have health coverage. I tried applying for Medicaid for my son, and it got denied due to my income being too high. I was so worried and didn’t know what to do.

My friend from work told me about the marketplace. I went and applied for health coverage. I was so rushed and furious that I wasn’t looking at my application. My monthly payment was almost $400.

“She helped with the application and got me a better deal.”

Two months later, I met Alex at my son’s school. I told her about the amount I pay monthly for health coverage. She gave me her card and told me to reach out to her. We met, she helped with the application and got me a better deal. Her kindness and understanding is what makes the world a better place. The world needs more Navigators!
