NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK

AUGUST 3-9, 2025

From Community Roots
to a Healthier Tomorrow

Across North Dakota and South Dakota, our health centers are deeply rooted in the communities they serve. Built by neighbors, for neighbors, these centers are more than clinics—they are lifelines that bring care, connection, and hope to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Honoring Our Health Centers
Our health centers stand as trusted partners in every town, city, and rural area they serve. They listen. They respond. They innovate. Together, we are working to remove barriers and ensure that everyone—no matter where they live—has access to high-quality, affordable health care.

Celebrating the People Behind the Care
Every day, dedicated health center staff go above and beyond to care for their communities. From medical providers to front desk teams, outreach workers to care coordinators—these are the people who make the promise of better health a reality. We are grateful for their compassion, hard work, and unwavering commitment.

2025 National Health Center Week in the Dakotas

Focus Days

Sunday, August 3, 2025: Celebrating 60 Years of Progress

We kick off National Health Center Week with a look back at the incredible history of health centers since their founding in 1965. From serving a handful of communities to now reaching 1 in 10 Americans, health centers have become a cornerstone of community health.

Monday, August 4, 2025: Staff Appreciation Day

Health centers thrive because of their dedicated clinical and non-clinical staff. This day honors all employees and their vital contributions to patient care and organizational success. Let’s emphasize the importance of valuing everyone on the team.

Tuesday, August 5, 2025: Patient Appreciation Day

Patients are at the heart of health centers, and this day recognizes their role in shaping care delivery. We celebrate patient boards—a revolutionary model of governance where patients make up 51% or more of board members—and their contributions to the health center movement.

Wednesday, August 6, 2025: Health Conditions Focus

Prevention and care health centers play a critical role in addressing acute and chronic conditions through prevention, early detection, and treatment. This day highlights efforts like vaccinations, cancer screenings, heart health, diabetes care, and managing chronic infectious diseases.

Thursday, August 7, 2025: Population Focus

Health centers serve patients of all race and ethnicities, in rural, urban, suburban, and mountain communities. This includes maternal and child health, adults, elders/ older adults, veterans, agricultural workers, and those experiencing homelessness, to name a few. This day celebrates health centers’ commitment to understanding the unique needs of their patients and communities, and providing quality, accessible care.

Friday, August 8, 2025: Partner Appreciation Day

Health centers succeed through collaboration with public, non-profit and industry partners. From hospitals to schools, businesses to government leaders, food banks to public housing, these partnerships drive innovation and advance health.

Saturday, August 9, 2025: Gratitude and Future Vision Day

We close the week with a focus on gratitude for all who contribute to the health center mission and a vision for the future. Together, we aim to serve 1 in 3 Americans, ensuring health for all.

CHC Impacts

Community health centers (CHCs) in the Dakotas have a significant impact on their patients and the communities they serve. In addition to bringing quality, affordable health care to populations that wouldn’t otherwise have access, health centers make important contributions to their local workforce and economy, while generating substantial cost savings for the nation’s health care system.
